Blood Ketones:
- The concentration of ketones (β-OHB) in the blood should be below 0.6 mmol/L.
- Elevated ketone levels may result from illness, dietary restrictions, intense exercise, or poor blood sugar control. If not on a ketogenic diet, a ketone level between 0.6 and 1.5 mmol/L may indicate the need for medical attention; levels above 1.5 mmol/L suggest a risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and immediate professional medical assistance is advised.
